POLYGRAPH EXAMINER TRAINING COURSES WITH THE ISSUANCE OF STATE-RECOGNIZED CERTIFICATES

In the profession of polygraph examiner, the desire for self-improvement and continuous professional development is a sign of responsibility and ethics, because not only the safety of material assets, but also reputation, fate, and sometimes even people’s lives depend on our conclusions.

These words have never been empty, but in the context of a full-scale war, they have acquired a special meaning in Ukraine. Even a single traitor or missed “gunner” undetected during a polygraph examination can cause great disaster: lead to the destruction of a critical infrastructure facility along with the people who work there, cause loss of personnel, destroy a well-established business, etc.

Incorrect conclusions based on the results of polygraph examinations in private matters destroy families and lead to an unjustified loss of trust between partners and loved ones.

Erroneous conclusions in internal investigations allow those involved to avoid punishment and cause significant reputational and moral damage to uninvolved employees. As a result, the former become convinced of their own impunity, which in turn leads to recidivism, while the latter, often demoralized, experience pain and resentment because of an unfair accusation. In both cases, the loser is always the case, the manager, the business owner.

Due to unprofessional behavior, incorrect, inaccurate conclusions, polygraph examiners sooner or later lose clients: some of them choose other specialists, while others lose faith in polygraph examinations and refuse to use polygraphs at all and, moreover, actively share their disbelief with others.
In view of the above, the UPAE (VAP) pays special attention to the polygraph examiners’ professional development.

Even during the polygraph examiner training courses, we explain to future polygraph examiners why taking periodic refresher courses, participating in professional conferences, webinars and seminars, etc. is not only important, but also a mandatory component of their professionalism and professional compliance.

PROFILING FOR POLYGRAPH EXAMINERS – TAKE YOUR SKILLS TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Dear colleagues, day in and day out, you sit across from a person, attach sensors, and look for the truth in the polygraph curves on the monitor. Your polygraph is a powerful tool that detects the slightest changes in human physiology. The whole process of the examination is clear, balanced, and regulated by the methodology. But sometimes it resembles a theatrical performance. And you occupy the first rows in this theater. A theater where there is only one actor on the stage – the respondent. And he plays his most important role. His script is his story. His goal is to convince you, the audience, of his sincerity. He uses carefully chosen words, rehearsed gestures, and a memorized smile.

Of course, a polygraph is an indispensable technical tool. But does it allow you to see what is hidden in the shadows? Does it give you the key to the scenario being played out in front of you? We invite you to take a look behind the scenes, into the world of profiling, an art that turns a polygraph examiner into a director who understands every move of the actor sitting across from him.

There is an abyss between “reaction” and “truth”. A spike in the curve. What is it? Is it definitely not true? No. It may be just an emotional reaction provoked by fear, anger, shame, resentment, or, yes, the cold calculation of a liar. Profiling is the geology of the human soul. It allows you to see values, fears, motives, and points to fault lines – internal conflicts and psychological trauma. In fact, often the most valuable indicators of truth or lies are not on the screen, but right in front of our eyes, and we need to be able to “read” a person before we ask the first question of the test.

So…. The polygraph records the reaction. This is a fact. But it does not explain the reason for the reaction. Fear, anxiety over the procedure itself, anger over unfair suspicion, altered physical condition, personal experiences unrelated to the case… All of this can create physiological “noise” that makes polygraphs difficult to interpret.

We have developed and are offering the Profiling for Polygraph Examiners training program starting in the fall of 2025, which provides a key to understanding the context of reactions.
The program will help to:

– Improve the accuracy of predictions: distinguish between a genuine reaction of emotional stress of an uninvolved person and a purposeful echeloned lie;
– conduct a pre-test conversation more effectively: quickly establish psychological contact, determine the person’s psychotype, and choose the best communication tactics;
– accurately determine the baseline of behavior: see how a person behaves in a calm state so that any deviation from this norm is a clear signal to you;
– formulate “unavoidable” questions: create incentives that will force the person involved to show themselves not only on the polygraph, but also in their non-verbal behavior;
– Increase the number of confessions: use psychological techniques based on a personality profile for an effective inter-test or post-test interview.
The synergy of polygraph and profiling creates a system that is virtually impossible to deceive: the polygraph shows “what” is happening, and profiling explains “why” it is happening.
Our program is designed specifically for practitioners. There is no “water” – only concentrated knowledge and practical tools that you can apply the very next day.
What is included in the program of profiling courses for polygraph examiners:
Fundamentals of operational psychodiagnostics. Projective interview. The art of calibrating and determining the baseline of personality behavior.
Non-verbal communication: beyond “body language”. Verbal patterns of lying.
Psycholinguistics: analysis of language structure, word choice, warnings, evasive responses. Paralinguistic indicators of lying.
Basics of criminal profiling: predicting lying strategies.
Combining the results of polygraph examination, non-verbal analysis, psycholinguistics and profiling into a single, holistic psychological portrait and drawing conclusions that are not just a report, but irrefutable evidence.

Duration of profiling courses for polygraph examiners: 36 hours (1 ECTS credit).
Cost of profiling courses for polygraph examiners: UAH 15-20 thousand per person.
Form of study at profiling courses for polygraph examiners: full-time or distance learning.
In the case of distance learning, the condition is that the student must participate in classes via video conference.
